Artisan Standard  # 158

George Carlin once said, "Ziricote?!?!? That sounds like something you yell when you're on fire" ...I think.
Well, this is what Paul is gonna be explaining to everyone that sees this guitar.
Here it is...Ziricote!!!

Body & Neck: Black Limba
Inlaid Top: Ziricote
Fretboard: Ziricote
Inlaid Headcap: Ziricote
Bridge: TonePros wraparound
Pickups: Lollar P-90 (neck) / Rio Grande Jazzbar (bridge)
Color: Natural (Satin neck)

Paul was kind enough to supply the wood for the top and the headcap. His original plan was to use a Macassar Ebony fretboard. Once I saw the wood it didn't take much to talk him into a Ziricote fretboard too :D "All Ziricote, all the time" as he put it.
Ziricote is a very hard tonewood. More often used as acoustic backs and sides, it works similarly to ebony or blackwood. The pores are a little more open like rosewood so it's a great fretboard if a quartersawn piece is used.
The top is just over 1/8" thick so it really isn't having much of a roll in the tone department. What we basically have is that deadly combo of black limba and P-90s. Lots of growl and the hard Ziricote fretboard is giving a little snap to the initial attack.
This, my friends, is a killer guitar. Simple, elegant, and all tone....I hope you dig it Paul. Thanks for everything!!!

Ron
